Elkhorn Area School District is proud to be a community partner bringing individuals and businesses together to share resources, talents, and services. EASD Community Engagement is committed to helping our community stay active, engaged, and connected. Our team is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes health and wellness for all. And we’re not alone.
School districts all over Wisconsin have recognized the importance and value of employing personnel to engage and enhance partnerships with the community while providing opportunities to build relationships that benefit and strengthen education and the community. There is great value and progress for all when the community is the school, and the school is the community.
Elkhorn, Wilmot, Delavan, Williams Bay, Lake Geneva, Burlington, and Bigfoot formed the Lakes Area Community Engagement Professionals (LACEP) group in September 2022. LACEP helps school professionals in our area collaborate and network to strengthen each district’s engagement and community partnerships. The group meets quarterly, and the locations rotate to support businesses in member communities.
EASD Community Engagement has an exciting year planned. Parent Connections will host its second annual Elkhorn Young Athletes program. Young Athletes is a partnership with The Special Olympics that teaches sport-skills to children between the ages of two and seven with and without special needs. The inaugural program had over 80 participants and volunteers from our community, schools, student organizations, and more. Parent Connections will also continue to host regular events at Matheson Memorial Library and 4K Family Fun events throughout Elkhorn.
The EASD Resiliency Coalition continues to focus on mental health awareness in our community. In the past year, they expanded their Snack in a Pack program to serve students at the Middle School and will continue to grow their program in the upcoming school year. Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved with the Resiliency Coalition this year.
In addition to the EAHS Fitness Center and Pool, Community Engagement is looking forward to offering more great opportunities for Elkhorn to get active. Yoga and Pound Fitness will continue throughout the year at Elkhorn Area Middle School, and our Adult Volleyball League starts back up in November. Holiday craft and cookie classes will be back again this year, as well as weekly bread-making and Instant Pot cooking classes.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we can’t help but feel excited about all the opportunities that lie ahead. There are countless ways to get involved and make a difference, from clubs and sports teams to volunteer work and community events.
